“Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it”. Tori Amos
Have you ever faced a situation where you felt like you just did not have the strength to go through it? I have been there several times and trust me it is not pretty. It takes some serious work to get past certain challenges and it is not for the faint of heart. Now I am not saying this to discourage you from facing your issues but it is worth saying so that you know what you are up against. It will not be easy to relive painful moments but if you want to be able to move on past your past, then you must do it.
Can you do it? Ofcourse you can. As the above quote says, even if you have to dig a little to find some courage, you will find some. It all starts in the mind, where you have to get rid of the negative thoughts about what you can and cannot do. Do not blame yourself for what happened in your past because it will not help you to move forward. A good way to help heal your past is to start a journal. Journals help you to express exactly how you feel without fear. It also helps you to empty yourself of the emotions that the negative experiences have brought up.
If you need to heal from a past hurt, take it one day at a time. Do not rush and believe that you have to heal within a specified time. Take your time and go as slow or as fast as you want to. It would also be helpful to have someone you can confide in who can provide a listening ear and give appropriate suggestions or advice. This person can be a professional, a close family member or a close friend.
We are all on a path in life. Some of us had a great start and some of us not so great. The fantastic thing is that while you cannot change your past, you can always change your future. Are you ready? You can do it. I believe you can. Do you believe in yourself? You should, because we all have courage, even if it is a little.
